How is GPF different than Stratfor?

Jan. 3, 2018

Why did George Friedman leave Stratfor, a company that he founded? I ask because Stratfor and GPF seem to address the same audience. How does GPF see itself as distinct from Stratfor? Is it a direct competitor or an extension?

Regards,

Harry Roberts

Response from Jacob L. Shapiro

Harry,

We left Stratfor because we wanted more freedom to focus on publishing. Stratfor was involved in a number of lines of business, and we found that that curtailed our ability to focus on what we do best – forecasting and geopolitics.

We are completely separate from Stratfor and see ourselves as distinct. We focus much more on important global developments, and our only customers are our readers.

All the best,

Jacob
